GTI00R from Sydney around 1996.

Thanks to Dean Evans, the first Australian owner and long time GTIR-Oz member, for providing a snippet of how the car came about. A genuine 1990 RB in ivory.

After seeing Jim Richards’ red car in Wheels magazine, I fell in love with a GTI-R, and around 1996, I arrived into work one day with a message to return a call Jim… I thought it was a prank call, but it was actually Jim, and he told me of this white one for sale in Melbourne.It wasn’t the best buying experience, however, I got it home, and established the register with the NSW RTA, the first one in the state, and second one in Oz behind Steve Richards’ blue one.

I did some minor mods, 17-inch OZ wheels, 3in exhaust and HKS Super Drager muffler, lowered a little, HKS pod filter and HKS boost controller up to one bar boost.

It’s a quasi-RB, so added power windows, electric mirrors and AC. Its lack of rear wiper and pillar vent where the umbrella holder would be made it easily identifiable.

That’s all it needed to keep it both quick and reliable and my daily for a few years, and that’s how it was featured in Fast Fours, which was the highest-selling issue of the year.

Owned it for four years, but frankly wasn’t using it much in the end, and sold it around 1999/2000, so I could to do a season of motorsport and ended up winning the 2001 Mirage series championship.

Drag Battle from 1998


Bought a red race/rally-only GTI-R (link below) in 2015 also in Melb, and relocated it (and me) to NZ (married a Kiwi girl), unlocking its ability to be road registered. Both in NZ and back in Australia.

After a slight tap with a roundabout, Graham replaced the hard to find OZ wheels with a set of, at the time popular, ‘sex spec’ chromies.

The car was then purchased by David D in 2005/06 and relocated to Burnie, Tasmania.

Front mount was fitted, along with the aircon removed during the process.

2015, after driving by the house for a year, seeing the car sitting in the front yard untouched, Glenn M knocked on the door to see if the owner would like to sell it.

With a blown turbo, a deal was struck and Glenn became the new owner. The chromies were left behind and replaced with a set of ROH Boost Rs.

The car still resides in Tasmania. FD2133

Now for sale $15,000 as a package.

1990 RB GTIR RNN14 Pulsar. Not running but was running when parked up.

Interior is in bits out of the car but all parts there. Has heavy rust in front foot wells, have spare floor available.

As well as the one in the car there are 2 complete engines in bits ready for assembly one with CP forged pistons and Eagle rods.

Numerous new parts like ARP bearings head stud and bottom end stud kits. 2 X rebuilt 54C heads Haltech Platinum Pro ecu. Nismo flywheel and clutch. Tomei 260 camshafts.

Would like to sell all complete but if no interest over the next month will start selling individual items. More pics available for interested buyers.
